An elderly man, Paul D. Houlk, of Bucyrus, Ohio, lost his life, while six others sustained injuries following a crash that occurred in Jefferson Township, Crawford, Ohio, on October 19, 2013 at approximately 3:46 pm. Reports from the OSHP are that a 2009 Ford Eclipse SUV was being driven by a 52 year old man, David B. Linden, north on State Route 598, when he allegedly failed to stop at the stop sign at the intersection of County Route 330. The SUV struck a 2004 GMC Sierra pickup that was being driven by the elderly man, west on the same road. Both vehicles went off the roadway and struck an AEP pole and a stop sign. The SUV rested in the ditch line and the pickup rested in a planted corn field. Linden, who was injured along with occupants of his vehicle, Michaela Linden 45, Taylor N. Linden 19, Carolina Linden 15, and Catherine L. Linden 10, were transported by Lifestar to Galion Community Hospital. Houlk, as well as a 12 year old occupant of his vehicle, Madeleine E. Bowen were also transported by Lifestar to Galion Community Hospital.
