Chester Law Group Co., LPA | Woman’s Car Crash Death May Have Been Prevented With Use Of Seat Belt


A Washington Courthouse woman was killed and her three-year-old daughter was seriously injured when their car overturned on a rural road in Greene County.
 
The deadly car crash occurred on Monday, May 10 at 4:05 p.m. Thirty-one-year-old Cassy Caudill and her daughter Kaley were driving a 1995 Chevy Tahoe on Old U.S. 35 east of Federal Road near Jamestown, Ohio. The vehicle drove off the side of the road and when Caudill tried to return to the roadway, she lost control of the vehicle and it overturned.  
 
Both Caudill and her daughter were ejected from the SUV.
 
Cassy Caudill was pronounced dead at the scene. Kaley was taken by Careflight to Children’s Medical Center in Dayton. She sustained serious injuries.
 
Cassy Caudill was not wearing a seatbelt. Kaley was not strapped into a child safety seat. Had they been buckled up, Kaley may not have been as seriously injured and she would still have a mother.
 
The number one cause of preventable child death is not being properly buckled in during a car crash.
 
Seatbelts save lives. Always wear a seatbelt while in a motor vehicle and make sure your children are in an appropriate child safety seat.
