Ohio Personal Injury Attorney | Toyota Recalls Sienna Minivans in Ohio Due to Accident Risk


Toyota has announced yet another recall and this one affects Ohio vehicles. The automaker has issued a voluntary safety recall on about 600,000 1998-2010 Toyota Sienna minivans because of concerns over potential corrosion on the spare-tire carrier cable. The recall involves front-wheel drive Sienna minivans used in cold climate states where road salt may accelerate corrosion and cause the cable to break.
 
The National Highway Safety Administration says it has received six complaints of spare tires falling off Sienna minivans. If the spare tire drops onto the road, it may create a road hazard for following vehicles and could potentially cause a crash. 
 
Toyota is asking Sienna owners to bring their minivans to their local dealers to have the cable inspected. While there is no fix, drivers will know if their vehicle poses a hazard to other drivers.
 
The recall covers vehicles in Ohio, the District of Columbia and 19 other states with high road salt usage, including: Connecticut, Delaware, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Massachusetts, Maryland, Maine, Michigan, Minnesota, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Virginia, Vermont, Wisconsin and West Virginia.
