Ohio Truck Accident Lawyer | Woman Dies, Three Injured in I-90 Semi-Truck Crash
A 23-year-old woman died and three were injured in a five vehicle crash that closed westbound I-90 for almost three hours.
The fatal car wreck occurred on Monday, May 10 at about 2:30 p.m. Kimberly Roberts of Mayfield Heights had stopped for road repair on I-90 when her car was struck by a tractor-trailer. The driver of the tractor-trailer, 54-year-old Thomas Narramore of Fairborn, was unable to stop in time to avoid the collision.
This first collision started a chain reaction of car crashes. Roberts’ car was pushed into the car of 39-year-old Stephanie Gentile of Concord. Her car flipped into the air and struck the cars of William Papczun, 58, of Twinsburg and James Farrell, 68, of Lyndhurst.
Roberts was taken by helicopter to MetroHealth Center in Cleveland. She died from her injuries. Three others were injured. Gentile was taken to Tri-Point Medical Center in Painesville and Papczun and his passenger were taken to LakeWest Hospital in Willoughby. Papczun was treated and released.
Commercial truck accidents are responsible for more than 5,000 deaths a year. Some Ohio accidents cannot be avoided. However, many large truck accidents occur because of brake failure or poorly maintained brakes. When brakes on a fully-loaded semi truck give out, there is no way to stop it.
