A 42-year-old Navarre man was involved in an accident with a Dalton Local Schools bus August 27. According to the Ohio State Patrol, the man was traveling on Route 212, did not yield at a stop sign, went left of center and struck the bus. The 53-year-old female bus driver was transporting 21 passengers following a football game. No injuries were reported.
 
Accidents such like this are common. The bus occupants suffer no injuries, while the occupant of the vehicle being struck by or striking the bus is injured.  This is because the mass of the bus is many times that of the vehicle being struck, and as such the forces acting upon the bus occupants are very small. (force equals mass times acceleration). The forces on the smaller vehicle from the large bus are very large, and to end up with no injuries is rare.
 
In 2008, Tuscarawas County, Ohio (population 90,914) had a total of 2,683 reported accidents, with 11 of those being fatal. 649 of these crashes were injury crashes, with a total of 950 injuries. New Philadelphia, Ohio (population 17,056) had a total of 501 reported accidents in 2008, with zero of those being fatal. Tuscarawas County saw decrease in total reported accident in 2009 (2,405).
