In 2008 there were a total of four fatal crashes taking the lives four people in Holmes County. Tuscarawas County had eleven fatalities with the small town of Sugarcreek having none of those according to the Ohio Department of Public Safety. An astonishing 114 fatal crashes in the state of Ohio came from drivers running into a tree as well as 3,202 injuries during 2008. While the following is only the second fatality in Holmes County this year it is still a tragedy.

A one vehicle crash took the life of a 22 year old man from Sugarcreek in Tuscarawas County. Troopers with the Wooster post of the Ohio Highway Patrol said the man was traveling north on County Rd. 114 when his vehicle failed to negotiate a curve and struck a fence and a tree. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

While investigations are still being done the man was wearing his seat belt, and alcohol is not suspected at this time.
