According to police reports, at approximately 2:45 pm, a 2007 Chrysler Cruiser full size car was stopped in traffic facing east on Federal Highway 50 on the middle lane of the down ramp. A 2001 Plymouth Neon midsize car was headed east behind it. The Plymouth Neon allegedly attempted to stop and slid on the wet pavement where it struck the back of the Chrysler. The injured man was the driver of the Chrysler, he was transported by EMS.

Belpre Ohio whose population in 2010 was 6,660 suffered a total of 44 injury crashes which resulted in 62 persons being injured. Those accidents which occurred when the time was wet amounted to 13,826 injury crashes. Those which were rear end crashes were 22,090 of a total of 81,145, which resulted in injuries. In Ohio in 2010 the total amount of accidents which occurred as a result of drivers’ following too closely/ACDA was 69,454 with 18,934 which resulted in injuries. The total accidents which occurred in the rain were 25,342 with 6,618 which caused injuries. Those accidents which involved full sized vehicles were 13,554 which caused injuries. Those accidents in which there were pavement markings were 32,550 which resulted in injuries in 2010.
