Warren County Ohio Car Accident Attorney Discusses Statistics
Home to 158,383 people, Warren County is located near the very southwest corner of Ohio. Of those 158,383 people, the Ohio Department of Public Safety only lists 119,124 as residents of the county proper. Named after Major General Joseph Warren, a noted doctor and hero of the Revolutionary War, Warren County lists its county seat as Lebanon and its most populated township as Mason. It is again worth pointing out that the statistics used by the Ohio Department of Public Safety exclude large population centers as they are counted as their own unique zones for the purposes of reporting.
Covering 407 square miles, 7 of which are covered in water during most of the year, it would appear that Warren County adds even more humidity and liquid to the already dangerous driving conditions that Ohio experiences during several months out of the average year. This danger shows itself in the comparatively high number of overall traffic accidents experienced in Warren County during the average year. For example, 2007 saw Warren County record a grand total of 2,711 traffic accidents go on the books, and another 3,004 were added to that figure the next year. Despite these high overall crash statistics, only 9 people lost their lives on the roads of Warren County during 2007, as well as 10 more during 2008.
The townships in Warren County that reported the highest overall number of traffic accidents during 2007 were: Deerfield with 848 traffic accidents, Turtle Creek with 394, Hamilton with 327, Franklin with 302, and Clear Creek with 257 traffic accidents. 2008 saw the overall traffic accident rate in Warren County increase by 10%, so it is not surprising to see many of these same townships post higher numbers during 2008: Deerfield with a total of 979 traffic accidents, Turtle Creek with 443, Hamilton with 355, Franklin with 313, and Clear Creek with 280 traffic accidents.
What is immediately interesting about these statistics is that the Township of Deerfield is actually smaller than the Township of Franklin. With 25,515 residents, the Township of Deerfield is roughly 8% smaller (in terms of overall population) than Franklin, yet reports more than twice the number of overall traffic accidents each year. This marks Deerfield as a very dangerous place for motorists within Warren County, but it also marks the Township of Deerfield as a comparatively safe place for motorists despite its high overall number of traffic accidents.
The Township of Hamilton also posts comparable crash statistics as the Township of Franklin, despite being home to just over a third as many people. With a population of 9,630, it is also worth noting that the Township of Franklin has been tied for two year running for the most traffic-related fatalities in Warren County. Though only 2 traffic-related fatalities were reported in the Township of Franklin each year, the fact that no other townships in the county could beat the comparatively modest-sized Franklin is a point of interest and another sign that the Township of Franklin is a dangerous place for motorists.
