Fire truck, tanker truck crash in chain reaction wreck on Ohio I-271

Traffic on Ohio’s Interstate 271 was at a standstill for more than five hours after a chain reaction crash that involved several cars, a tanker truck and a fire truck.
 
Allegedly, the first accident occurred just after 12 o'clock on Monday, August 16. That collision resulted in second minor car wreck involving a distracted driver. The third accident happened when the driver of an oncoming tanker truck couldn't stop in time to avid the second wreck. The tanker crashed into a fire truck that was parked at the scene. Two fire fighters narrowly escaped serious injury. They heard the truck coming and were able to jump behind the concrete barrier.
 
The tanker was hauling more than 8,000 gallons of gasoline. However, less than 200 gallons of fuel leaked from the tanker and the spill was cleaned-up. Emergency valves on the tanker prevented what could have been a serious environmental threat. Fortunately, the fuel did not ignite.
 
There were no serious injuriesfrom the truck accident and the highway re-opened by seven o'clock on Monday night.
