Malpractice victim left impotent and incontinent after prostate surger

A Beavercreek, Ohio man is suing the Cleveland Clinic, a surgeon and two doctors-in-training, because he claims the doctors-in-training, rather than the experienced surgeon, allegedly performed his prostate surgery and the operation left him both incontinent and impotent.

A Retired Airforce colonel and his wife filed the medical malpractice lawsuit in Cuyahoga County Common Pleas Court. The lawsuit claims medical negligence, interference with evidence, conspiracy and loss of companionship. The suit also accuses the surgeon, a doctor-in-training , and the hospital of medical fraud and the doctors-in-training with battery.

According to the lawsuit, the victim specifically gave consent for only the surgeon to perform the robotic surgery to remove his cancerous prostate gland. However, the consent form is missing. After a conversation with the hospital ombudsman, the victim believes that a doctor-in-training actually performed the surgery which left him with Peyronies disease, a painful curvature of the penis, and other injuries. It is possible that the experienced surgeon was not in the room.

The lawsuit asks for $25,000 in damages for each of 11 claims listed in the complaint.
